There are 19 marinas in Greece providing more than 6000 moorings and offering a high quality service. There have been a tendency to start up the program for improving the services and marinas all along the coast, thus building new marinas and providing safe anchorage for boaters.
Besides main ports of Greece, there are numerous small ports and well equipped marinas offering anchorages for boats. One of the most important features regarding all the mooring spots is surely safety, and of course all the facilities and services for visitors offered in following ports: Mikrolímano, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, Gythio, Pylos, Zákynthos, Ithaca, Kefaloniá, Lefkada, Paxí, Ios, Mykonos, Patmos, Samos, Chios and many other ports. However, make sure you have strong and heavy ropes to hold your boat in case of winds, specially around Cyclades.
Port authorities have right to charge for anchorage in ports under their supervision. Therefore, boaters are obliged to pay port fees according to the regulations. However, port fees differ from marina fees and they are not as costly as that ones. On the other hand ancorage in marinas is more secure and it provides mooring line and buoys, water and fuel. As to the fuel, it is provided all along the coast; prices on the most remote places and islands may differ from the current prices due to additional transport fee. Water, on the other hand is provided on piers or is transported to all the ports. Prices may differ here as well. Tap-water in Greece is safe to drink, unless stated differently. We suggest you keep water supplies on board.
